‘The Worlds of If’, university of Leeds

Analysis and design of Sara Barker's installation on the side of the new Sir William Henry Bragg engineering and physical sciences building at the University of Leeds. This piece comprises several materials including sheet, tubular and cast aluminium, with steel fixings. Our work involved some detailed finite element analysis to accurately capture the distribution of stresses throughout the piece. We also carried out physical testing of key elements to ensure our assumptions accurately reflected the as-built condition. Coordinated, fabricated and installed by Sculpture and Design.
