St. Michael’s Repairs, Moodiesburn
We were engaged by the client to develop and design a repair solution for the primary glulam roof beams for this project. The original detailing (by others!) did not allow water to shed adequately from the glulam outriggers which, over time, caused a fairly substantial rot problem. As part of our works, we coordinated a micro-drilling test regime to determine the extent and spread of rot along the outriggers to check if it had spread inside the building. Fortunately, only one glulam was affected inside the church and the remainder could be repaired from the outside. We worked closely with John Russell Partnership Architects to develop a visually unobtrusive resin-based repair solution which allowed a clean cut and joint to be made.
