ASG Observatory, Mugdock Park

Structural engineering services to support the new-build Eric Tomney Memorial Observatory for the Astronomical Society of Glasgow within Mugdock Country Park. We were responsible for groundworks design, RC detailing, superstructure design and drainage design.
We designed the superstructure as a load-bearing timber kit supported off a reinforced concrete raft slab. There is a central reinforced concrete column to support the telescope at high level, which is isolated from the superstructure to protect it from vibrations.
