‘Last of Light (3 Needles), Angel Court, London

Analysis and design of Sara Barker's installation at Angel Court in Bank, London. This piece comprises several materials including sheet, tubular and cast aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel and fibreglass. Our work involved some detailed finite element analysis to accurately capture the distribution of stresses throughout the piece. We also carried out physical testing of key elements to ensure our assumptions accurately reflected the as-built condition. A historical party wall, we were required to provide detailed calculations to the Principal Engineers for the development as part of the Party Wall Agreement sign-off. We also provided structural advice for several other pieces across the development. Coordinated, fabricated and installed by Sculpture and Design.
